Trauma therapist in Houston, TX and online
HELPING others bring balance back into LIFE.
As a first-generation Arab-Amercican, I am committed to serving clients from all backgrounds including individuals from the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.
As a therapist at In Vivo, I am passionate about the work I do. Having experienced my own share of trauma, I understand the courage, persistence, and patience required for change. I believe we are not defined by our life experiences, rather we define them. Each experience we have is an invitation to open our hearts wider, uncover more of what lives within us, and choose how we want to show up.

Healing trauma is not about ERASING the past, but RECLAIMING your future.
Hi, I’m Kayla Adel and I am dedicated to guiding individuals through their healing journey by helping them connect with and understand the different parts of themselves. Through a compassionate, non-judgmental approach, I support clients in unburdening past traumas, fostering self-leadership, and achieving a more integrated and harmonious sense of self. My goal is to empower individuals to heal from within and reclaim their wholeness.
Life is hard even without trauma. Those of us who have experienced trauma know the work it takes just to make it through the day, but I believe there is more for us than to just survive. Within each of us lives a wounded healer, a warrior who blow after blow has forgotten their power. In Japanese culture Kintsugi is the name given to the philosophy and art of repairing cracked pottery with gold, rendering a piece more beautiful than it was before. The story of Kintsugi may be the most perfect embodiment of our trauma-shattered lives. Rather than trying to hide the damage, kintsugi highlights the repair.

The imperfections are what make it beautiful and valuable. A broken piece that is put back together has more of a story, seems more authentic and real, and is stronger and more resilient than something that has stayed pristine. The breaking of what once was, the layered and time-consuming process of putting it back together, and the mending with gold, all contribute to its value.
When working with the broken pieces of ourselves, like Kintsugi, we have the chance to recreate our narratives, understandings, and frameworks to be made stronger, more resilient, and more valuable than before. My goal as your therapist is to help you understand how your trauma affects your unique body, mind, emotions, and behaviors and help you regain a sense of self-control, safety, trust, and competence.
Trauma work requires extra persistence, patience, and self-kindness.
That being said, my ideal client is serious about change in their life and willing to commit to the honest work required for change in and outside the room. Therapy is an investment of your time, money, and energy and in honor of that, I am committed to your growth.
The work we do is powerful, sacred, and liberating. As your therapist, I will support you in reclaiming your power, changing your relationship with your trauma, and practicing new ways of being to become a true embodiment of Kintsugi, more beautiful than before.
